Photography – My background

Photography has always interested me! I’ve always like the idea of capturing a little slice of time and space. It, however, never interested me enough to want to spend the initial time and pain learning how to do it when I was younger (read: before digital cameras).

The Current 3D Film Fad

I came across a pretty interesting article the other day about why 3D movies give some people headaches and some of the technical issues with “faking out” your eyes and brain.

Article:  Why 3D doesn’t work and never will. Case closed.

One of the biggest issues, as this article states, is the focus/convergence issue.  When you focus on things, not only do each of your eyes lenses focus, but your eyes also converge and diverge (rotate toward and away from each other).

Recipe – Fire Roasted Salsa

Fire Roasted Salsa - Final

Fire Roasted Salsa

Summary:

Mysterious.  Smokey.  Delicious.

This is a neat and simple recipe I’ve been revising with time.  This doesn’t taste like any salsa I’ve ever had from the store.  Fire roasting the vegetables really makes the flavors very interesting.  I’ve had friends and family try this, and they have all been quite impressed with it.

Yeah.  You will be too.

Guacamole is a pretty simple and ludicrously delicious thing.  Read on for this simple recipe!

Brian wrote this as a very slow country song.  We had an opportunity to send this tune off for a potential co-write… tomorrow.  So we had to move fast.

We worked on the song for a few hours and it wasn’t really coming together.  We were about to quit for the night when I jokingly hit my double-speed button.  That was it.  We were then re-energized because we finally had the direction for the song.

We laid down all of the vocal tracks and guitar parts and called it for the night (it was about 4 AM).  The next day I woke up early with the challenge of having to write a piano part and finish the mix in about 4 hours.  I fumbled around for quite a bit before finally landing on a bit of a Hornsby ripoff.

All in all, the simplicity of this tune was a nice change from the previous song we recorded.
